About the 2027 Kia Telluride
The 2027 Telluride is not a facelift. It is the second generation of Kia's three-row flagship, revealed at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show and assembled in West Point, Georgia. Kia grew it in every direction: a 116.9-inch wheelbase and 199.2-inch overall length, which the company describes as 2.3 inches longer, nearly three inches more wheelbase and an inch taller than the SUV it replaces. Kia quotes 22.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 48.7 with the second row upright, and 89.3 cubic feet maximum.
The bigger change is mechanical. The V6 is retired. Every gas 2027 Telluride uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four making 274 horsepower and 311 lb-ft through an eight-speed automatic, rated by the EPA at 20/26/22 mpg city/highway/combined with front drive, 18/24/20 with all-wheel drive, and 17/22/19 in X-Pro form. Towing is up to 5,000 pounds.
For the first time there is a Telluride Hybrid, and Kia lists it as its own model with its own price ladder. It combines the 2.5-liter turbo with electric motors and a 1.65-kWh lithium-ion battery for 329 combined horsepower and 339 lb-ft through a six-speed automatic. EPA numbers run 34/36/35 mpg on the EX front-drive, 33 combined for the SX front-drive and 31 combined for the all-wheel-drive versions — Kia claims up to 637 miles of range on the most efficient configuration. Hybrid towing is 4,500 pounds.
Seating is seven or eight depending on configuration, with available power second-row captain's chairs, heated seats for all three rows, front relaxation seats with powered leg rests and a massaging driver's seat. It suits families who want three genuinely usable rows, and the hybrid finally gives Telluride shoppers a fuel-economy answer the old V6 never had.
What the reviewers say
The redesign has been driven by the press, and the verdict is broadly warm with one recurring reservation. Writing for Motor1, Jeff Glucker praised the cabin as luxurious enough to embarrass pricier badges, singled out the improved noise isolation, and liked that Kia moved the electric power steering from the column to the rack — he found the result had real heft. His complaints were mostly cosmetic: the front-end styling and the fender-well flourishes. He also noted the X-Pro cannot be had as a hybrid.
Andy Lilienthal at GearJunkie scored it 8.1 out of 10, calling the interior spacious and thoughtfully detailed and the highway ride quiet and composed. He was genuinely impressed by the X-Pro off-road, crediting the electronic limited-slip differential and all-terrain tires, but criticized the polarizing grille, a steering wheel that blocks part of the display, and a camera system that switches off at 6 mph. He described hybrid power delivery as linear rather than quick.
Consumer Reports' Jeff S. Bartlett welcomed the extra size, the larger screens and the hybrid option, but headlined his early impressions with reservations about the new four-cylinder — CR had not published full instrumented road-test results at the time of writing.

Which Telluride trim should you lease?
Worth correcting a common assumption: the 2027 ladder is longer than the old LX/S/EX/SX/SX-Prestige list, because X-Line and X-Pro are now packages layered onto the upper trims rather than single models. Kia's published gas pricing runs LX FWD $39,190; S FWD $42,090 and S AWD $44,090; EX FWD $43,790 and EX AWD $45,790; X-Line EX AWD $47,290; SX FWD $48,790; X-Line SX AWD $51,790; X-Pro SX AWD $53,690; SX Prestige AWD $53,890; X-Line SX Prestige AWD $54,890; and X-Pro SX Prestige AWD $56,790. Destination is $1,545.
The Hybrid is a separate model and starts higher up the ladder — there is no hybrid LX or S. Kia lists EX FWD $46,490, EX AWD $48,490, SX FWD $51,490, X-Line SX AWD $54,490, SX-Prestige AWD $56,590 and X-Line SX-Prestige AWD $57,590, same $1,545 destination. There is no X-Pro hybrid.
X-Pro is the off-road build: 9.1 inches of ground clearance, an exclusive suspension with extra travel, an electronic limited-slip differential with multi-terrain AWD modes, wider all-terrain tires, front and rear recovery points and a Ground View Monitor. X-Line is the same look with blacked-out arches, mirrors and beltline trim plus raised roof rails.
Safety
Be careful with the model years here. As of August 2026, NHTSA's safety-ratings database returns no results at all for the 2027 Kia Telluride — the redesigned SUV has not been crash tested by the agency yet, so any five-star claim you see attached to it is borrowed from an older car. IIHS is in the same position: its most recent rated Telluride is the 2025, the final year of the first generation, which earned Top Safety Pick+ with Good results in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front and side tests, plus Good-rated headlights and pedestrian crash prevention. Kia says the second-generation body structure was engineered to target Top Safety Pick+, and the 2027 carries 10 airbags including a new front-row center airbag, a full driver-assistance suite and a rear occupant alert. Treat that as a design goal, not a rating — we will update this page when the new generation is actually tested.
How the Telluride compares
The Hyundai Palisade is the closest relative and the sharpest comparison. Its 2026 hybrid uses the same 2.5-liter turbo-hybrid layout and posts EPA figures of 34 combined in its most efficient Blue form, 31 front-drive and 29 all-wheel drive — a touch behind the Telluride Hybrid's 35, 33 and 31. Palisade still offers a 3.5-liter V6 (21 combined FWD, 20 AWD), which is the six-cylinder option Kia no longer has.
Toyota's Grand Highlander is the efficiency leader: its standard hybrid is EPA-rated 36 combined front-drive and 34 with all-wheel drive, better than any Telluride, though the 2.4-liter turbo gas versions manage only 22-24 combined. Honda's Pilot is the traditionalist — a 3.5-liter V6 across the range, 22 combined front-drive, 21 all-wheel drive, 20 for the TrailSport, and no hybrid at all. If fuel economy drives your lease payment, the Telluride Hybrid and Grand Highlander are the two to price.

Kia Telluride lease questions
Is the 2027 Telluride really all-new, or just updated?
All-new. It is the second generation, revealed at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show. Kia stretched the wheelbase by nearly three inches, added 2.3 inches of length and an inch of height, redesigned the interior, and replaced the V6 with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four. A hybrid joins the range for the first time.
Should I lease the gas Telluride or the Hybrid?
It depends on your miles. The gas model is rated 22 combined mpg front-drive; the Hybrid reaches 35 combined on the EX FWD. But the Hybrid starts at $46,490 versus $39,190, so the fuel saving has to outrun a higher cap cost. Tell us your annual mileage and we will price both.
How does trim choice change my lease payment?
More than most people expect. The gas range spans $39,190 to $56,790 and the Hybrid runs $46,490 to $57,590, so there is roughly $18,000 of spread. Because a lease payment is driven by the gap between price and residual value, two trims can lease very differently even when the sticker gap is small. We quote several.
What mileage allowance should I choose?
Pick the allowance that matches how you actually drive, not the cheapest one. Three-row SUVs get used for school runs, road trips and airport hauls, and buying extra miles at signing is always cheaper than paying overage at turn-in. Tell us your realistic yearly total and we will build the quote around it.
Can I lease the X-Pro as a hybrid?
No. Kia does not offer an X-Pro hybrid for 2027. The off-road X-Pro build — 9.1 inches of ground clearance, extra suspension travel, an electronic limited-slip differential, all-terrain tires and recovery points — is gas-only, on the SX and SX Prestige trims. The Hybrid tops out with the X-Line appearance package instead.
Do I need all-wheel drive in NY, NJ or CT?
Most Northeast buyers choose it, and it is worth knowing the fuel-economy cost. Adding AWD to the gas Telluride drops EPA combined from 22 to 20 mpg, and the X-Pro falls to 19. On the Hybrid the trade is 35 combined front-drive versus 31 with AWD. Winter confidence has a measurable price.
How many people and how much cargo does it hold?
Seven or eight, depending on whether you take the second-row bench or captain's chairs. Kia quotes 22.3 cubic feet of cargo behind the third row, 48.7 cubic feet with the second row upright, and 89.3 cubic feet maximum. Available heated seats extend to all three rows, and the second-row chairs can be power-operated.
