Leasing a Hyundai

Hyundai has become one of the highest-volume mainstream brands in the US. Hyundai Motor America closed 2025 with 901,686 total sales and 772,712 retail sales — a fifth consecutive record retail year and third straight record total — with annual records for the Elantra, Tucson, Santa Fe, Palisade, IONIQ 5 and Venue. Electrified models made up 30% of the retail mix, hybrids up 36% year over year.

The warranty, stated accurately. Hyundai's own coverage language is a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty and a 7-year anti-perforation warranty. Automoblog's 2026 warranty guide notes the 10-year powertrain term applies to the original owner only; a subsequent owner gets powertrain components under whatever remains of the 5/60 coverage. On a lease that nuance cuts both ways: you are the original owner, but a 24-to-39-month term ends deep inside the 5/60 bumper-to-bumper period, so the shorter warranty is the one you actually use.

Quality and resale. In J.D. Power's 2026 U.S. Initial Quality Study, the Santa Cruz, Venue and Sonata each ranked first in segment, with the Kona and Elantra second in theirs. Resale is more mixed: no Hyundai appeared among Kelley Blue Book's 2026 Best Resale Value winners, though iSeeCars measured the Elantra at 37.1% five-year depreciation against a market average near 42%.

Safety. IIHS awarded six 2026 Top Safety Pick+ ratings (IONIQ 5, IONIQ 9, Sonata, Kona, Tucson, Santa Fe) and one Top Safety Pick (Elantra). Hyundai lists seven SmartSense features as standard across the 2026 lineup: Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Assist, Forward Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Occupant Alert (door logic) and High Beam Assist.

Why lease a Hyundai through Swift Autos

A broker and a dealership are not doing the same job. A dealership sells the inventory sitting on its own lot and earns on the spread. We work across a network of franchised Hyundai dealers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, locate the specific trim and color you want, and quote you a number with the fees itemized before you commit to anything.

You still sign with a franchised Hyundai dealer. The car still carries Hyundai's factory warranty and can be serviced at any Hyundai dealer. What changes is that you are not spending a Saturday in a showroom negotiating from a weaker information position.

What we cannot do is invent a program Hyundai Motor Finance is not running. Residual values and money factors come from the captive lender, not from us — our leverage is on price, inventory and transparency.

Hyundai lease questions

Does Hyundai's 10-year/100,000-mile warranty actually help me on a lease?

Less than the headline suggests. Hyundai's stated coverage is 10 years/100,000 miles on the powertrain and 5 years/60,000 miles new-vehicle limited. A 24-to-39-month lease finishes well inside that 5/60 term, so the bumper-to-bumper warranty is the one you use. Automoblog's 2026 guide notes the 10-year powertrain term is original-owner only, so it does not follow the car to its next owner.

How many IIHS awards did Hyundai earn for 2026?

Seven. IIHS gave 2026 Top Safety Pick+ to the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 9, Sonata, Kona, Tucson and Santa Fe, and Top Safety Pick to the Elantra, per Hyundai's March 24, 2026 announcement. Across Hyundai Motor Group — adding Genesis and Kia — the total was 16. IIHS tightened its 2026 criteria around rear-seat protection and pedestrian crash avoidance.

What safety equipment is standard on every 2026 Hyundai?

Hyundai names seven standard SmartSense features across the 2026 lineup: Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Assist, Forward Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Occupant Alert (door logic) and High Beam Assist. Anything beyond that list — blind-spot collision avoidance, Highway Driving Assist, surround-view cameras — varies by model and trim, so confirm the specific build before signing.

Is Hyundai reliable enough to lease without worrying?

The strongest recent evidence is J.D. Power's 2026 U.S. Initial Quality Study, published June 25, 2026: the Santa Cruz ranked first in midsize pickup for a third straight year, the Venue first in small SUV and the Sonata first in midsize car, with Kona and Elantra runners-up. J.D. Power's separate 2026 Dependability Study put the industry average at 204 problems per 100 vehicles.

Does Hyundai's resale value affect my monthly payment?

Directly. A lease payment is largely the gap between the negotiated price and the residual value the bank assigns at your term's end, so a model that holds value leases cheaper. Hyundai's record here is mixed. No Hyundai made Kelley Blue Book's 2026 Best Resale Value list, but iSeeCars measured the Elantra at 37.1% five-year depreciation versus a market average near 42%.

Should I lease rather than buy a Hyundai EV?

Leasing shifts the depreciation risk. iSeeCars measured 56.5% five-year depreciation on the Kona Electric, among the steepest figures in its study — a real loss if you own the car, and the lender's problem if you lease it. Hyundai's electrified models reached 30% of retail sales in 2025, with hybrids up 36% year over year, so there is genuine volume behind the lineup.
